Integration Architect at the University of Hull, advising the U&I Gold Dust project
I work as Integration Architect at the University of Hull. In the context of this Programme I am acting as adviser to the U&I Gold Dust project. This project is investigating the generation of personal information profiles based on TOC usage data to generate targeted RSS feeds, avoiding information overload.
In other walks of life I advise and support the Library at the University on technology issues and am leading on the implementation of an institutional digital repository (which is itself being developed through two JISC projects, RepoMMan and REMAP, managed by Richard Green). I manage the CREE2 project to develop the delivery of library services within an institutional portal, and participate in the VRE eReSS technology standards project.
In all the work indicated, user engagement is key to understanding the needs for which technology will be developed to address. Such engagement helps to target scarce development resources as well as help users feel they are having a say in the services they need.
