I have been talking about knowplace and knowweeks workshops.
Here is a small interview with Frances Long, the President of Knowplace. I have never met Frances Face to face, but somehow I feel like I know her. We have been collaborating for some time now, in some of the workshops I have moderated along with my friend Ramona.
Now after watching to Frances’ interview I came to confirm that we are really in synch where our perception of online learning and facilitation are.
Frances speaks about the need of mentoring and supporting people; how important it is to provide evidence of one’s presence. We can lurk and learn by doing so, but those who are on the other side of the screen won’t know that unless you tell them you are there listening to/reading what they are saying. By doing do we are also showing appreciation for one’s work, and valuing and recognizing everyone’s effort.
Above all, we learn better in an environment where you feel welcomed, safe and comfortable to share what we know and what we have yet to learn. It is about caring for others and being passionate about what we do too.
Take a couple of minutes to listen to it. It is worth doing so!
