Ha. there's a title for ya. I've been working for much of the last year on the idea of creating knowledge nodes, using drupal, that represent a rhizomatic approach to knowledge. The idea is that the knowledge that is created there is a mix of dynamic/static content created in a public/private manner by a number of direct/indirectly involved folks. The goal of the knowledge node is to capitalize on the possibilities presented by sophisticated tagging/rss feeds to allow for a seemless creation of a shifting knowledge space which, at any given time, represents a fair representation of the knowledge available for a given field and, at another time, might in actuality BE something very different from a content perspective, but might still represent a fair representation of the knowledge available for a given field.

As per emerge conference (april 23rd - 25th) guidelines, I need someone from another project to partner with me on the presentation. I have no idea if anyone is currently doing this kind of work (although i remember some interesting tagging work from the January conference) but I would love to find a partner to present with. I'm more than willing to work with anyone anywhere on the spectrum... from "that's crazy talk" to "I have no idea what you're talking about" to, "umm... yes, but you might also want to think about it this way". Please leave comments here if you're interested! cheers...

ps. more info on what i mean by rhizomatic on my blog.

What I'm doing

I've got a project that is just going to second viewing in Canada. Smallish grant, in the 20K (UK) range. What i'm trying to do is flush out an existing moodle course that my partner designed for the intro to academic writing class at UPEI. Design some nice bits around it, make it a little more interactive and then make an intro version of it for public release. The idea is to have a nice, tight, self suficient intro version for use by ESL students, K-12 students and the general public who might be interested in either learning a little bit about the structures there or, even better, use it to help students get a jump start on their uni course.

What I need

Anyone doing something like this?

Any models out there that I should know about?

Anyone have an idea of why this is a BAD idea?

Would also love it if someone else were interested and we could share the planning or even use this project (assuming it works) as a proof case for something else.
