This community is about managing, representing, and running learning activities. Learning design has a focus on activities rather than content, and a number of tools (e.g CopperCore, SLeD, Reload, LAMS) are emerging to support this approach. It will be crucial for uptake of such an approach that usable tools are available for learners and teaching practitioners.
