One of the issues of teaching that I find is the difficulty in pacing students' work: they typically leave things to the last minute. This relates to one of Gibbs conditions for assessment supporting learning-sufficient time on task.
The LD system will enable me to pace their work and ensure that they participate in the prerequisite activities without setting lots of assignment deadlines (and the associated admin overhead). It seems a natural way of promoting a systematic approach to study while not imposing further overheads on the tutor to manage it.
Revealing activities at an appropriate time also avoids cognitive overload, and should be particularly useful for helping students in the transition from a highly controlled school approach towards independent learning at University.
