I am sure this is the biggest thing on everyone's radar Wink

Simon Grant here, links to Mark Andreessen here,  on about Open Social, the Google social networking "level 2 platform" API. Will/should Emerge become an open social container?

  1. I think this is the OpenSource answer to FBML (FaceBook Markup Language). I like this post (here) that politely says :

    ... Facebook too? He wouldn't name Facebook but said Google is talking to everyone, clearly implying that Google has approached it. Added Schmidt: "Everyone can join. There's no intent to discriminate or exclude." ...

  2. OpenSocial, as I understand it, is an agreement for social platforms to conform to a set of standards, so it is not really a case of Emerge conforming to those standards but might be the case for elgg to do so.

  3. Is Elgg the container? Or an object in the container? How recursive can the shell be?
