Janet Finlay :: Blog :: Introducing Planet - and an invitation

January 25, 2008

Great to meet/see everyone in York and hear about everyone's projects - exciting times ahead I think. A number of people asked for more information about our Pattern Language Network (PLaNet) project and how they could possibly get involved. Our fledgling blog can be found at www.patternlanguagenetwork.org - this will tell you more about the aims of the project and some of our initial discussions.  The project is all about sharing and transferring practice - patterns help us to identify and express clearly the essence of what makes particular practices successful by analysing examples of what works (and what doesn't) in a particular situation. The resulting pattern language presents good practice in a form that others can pick up and use - and in doing so helps you disseminate your findings to the wider community.

And so to the invitation .... Planet is rather different from the other projects in that - for us - you are our users! We will be working closely with groups of you (and others outside Emerge) over the course of the project to develop the pattern language and we invite you to join our user group. If you have a project where you are looking at teaching practice with Web 2.0, social networking or Second Life we especially want to hear from you! Please leave a comment on this post or join our new Planet: Pattern Language Network community here on the Emerge site if you want to know more (or if you prefer drop me an email at j.finlay@leedsmet.ac.uk).

Looking forward to a stampede!

  1. Please count me in!

This is all about sharing and I am willing to share the little I know!
