Joss Ling
Jocelyn joined the University of Bristol PGCE science team in 2003 following seven years at Loughborough University in a variety of roles ranging from initial teacher training in science specialising in physics and ICT to teaching web page design. Previously to joining Loughborough University she taught science, psychology and ICT in secondary schools
Moving to Bristol has enabled her to follow up her interests in ICT and learning and she won a grant from the Wellcome Foundation's Engaging Science Programme in 2004 to develop a web site - the Bioethics Education Project to support the teaching of complex ethical issues in schools. She is now working on a new site, the Physics Ethics Education Project. Also through having great fun testing various PDAs and Smartphones in a joint TTA/GSoE project for potential use by the PGCE Science students she now moderates the discussion for teachers on the Handheld Learning Forum. Last year was awarded funding from the TTA to investigate students' use of blogs via PDAs to reflect on their teaching practices.
