Joe Rosa :: Blog :: Project 'Communities' - a kind request

January 30, 2008

We are working towards having the Projects information easily accessible by the Emerge community. There is a need for every 'Project' to have a page inside the ELGG/Emerge platform, and that is accomplished by creating a 'Community'. Josie made a step-by-step - HowTo for this purpose.

Meanwhile I've started a manually updated page (link in the sidedar) with the Projects Phase II, that will be replaced by a dinamic generated 'Communities' pages project related, and that will create a dinamic/organic project relationship (we hope). If you have some information that will help to better shape please email me joe@jiscemerge.org.uk.

As soon as you have 10/15 minutes please create/update your 'Community' page. And if you can add an icon will be great, that will allow a more visual / search mapping of information. That's a suggestion/request from several members.

As a complementary information, we've closed the site for Self-Registration going back to the Registration-through-Invitation mode. You can make an invitation clicking in Networks-->'Invite a Friend' giving a Name and Email Address, and an email is sent to them to activate their account.

  1. Hi Joe,

I'll certainly work on this. I see the projects tab shows the project manager in relation to each project. I think it might be useful to show everyone with an Emerge profile working on each project. Is there anything we'd need to do to help?

  2. Thank you Joe. That is great!

  3. @ Ann Jeffery - Hi Ann. Each project "community" page should include links to the profiles of all the people working on that project. It shouldn't be a central admin role to keep this up to date, but each project should keep its page current. Hope that is OK.

  4. Sorry for threading this. Joe, could the project names on the page link to those project community pages that do already exist? Thanks

  5. Thanks Joe. Planet has a community - as does Streamline - but notice the e-amin projects aren't listed - is this deliberate?

  6. Hi Janet. We are studying/discussing possibilities on how to display/group/cluster the information 'organically' as possible. There is no doubt that Prpjects Phase II needs to, due to JISC operationality. Take this as the frst raw list, and soon as options are made, I will include and/or inform how the information will be available.
