Taking forward my productivity theme, I am interested in the 'productivity' of social networks ... are they places where people work, play, or ... is there some half-way house where we make contacts which might lead to productive outputs sometimes sooner, sometimes later.  Is social networking a useful means of identifying potential partners and collaborators or is the process too awkward in terms of navigation and identification.  i notice that someone's introductory post in this community suggests they have had trouble locating like-minded or like-interested individuals.... isolated case, newbie, or imperfect software?
