I'm an Associate Senior Lecturer in Contemporary Art and Graphic Design at Leeds Metropolitan University, mainly concentrating on digital abstract photography and moving image, but increasingly involved in web-based identity and virtual spaces.
My team is exploring the potential for social learning in Second Life through the facilitation of creative thinking, ideas generation and project building. I'm responsible for heading-up the technical developments - which is (I feel) a nice way of rephrasing that I'm the one with my head buried in code.
I think, out of all the web-apps that I've tinkered with over the past few years, Flickr - the Web 2.0 poster-child - has to be the one that stands out for me. I've used it as an inspiration for the course sites that I've developed for us here in the School of Contemporary Art and Graphic Design, and I use its API to drive not only my own personal portfolio site, but also several bits and pieces that I've scripted on the web and within Second Life.
