Very interesting PLE workshop at Aston today with Oleg and Wilbert. Here's something from Oleg: Do we need personal teaching environments as well as personal learning environments? Do we interpret this question as meaning, Can we build some sort of SaaS learning activity service?

Here's an idle thought... How much is the monitoring or "formative" aspect of a University education reflected upon, valued, or unpacked by institutions? How much is it an unexamined epiphenomenon of awarding qualifications?

Does social software allow teachers, and institutions, to introspect, in a quasi-formal way the informal, social development of learning that in the past escaped institutional scrutiny, and surfaced only through the maturation of learners' thinking arising from those experiences?
