I lead the educational development team at Bradford University
I am Professor of Education Development at the University of Bradford. One of the first cohort of National Teaching Fellows, I worked in Communcation Studies at Sheffield Hallam University (producing textbooks on interpersonal, group and business communication) before moving to lead Bradford's educational development unit. As well as my longstanding interests in learning and assessment, I have produced educational software (The Interviewer, Gower 2004).
Current projects and interests include: leading the University's Pathfinder project and a current JISC project on social software (Enhancing Learner Progression 2); investigating student reflection and metacognition (part of a Psychology subject Centre project); evaluating the impact of speech recognition software; co-ordinating the University's participation in the LearnHigher CETL and contributing to its groupwork area; and evaluating educational initiatives and change.
