On the one hand, it’s good to see that the press is interested in projects like ticTOCs - elsewhere, the Dec/Jan issue of Research Information included a short background to the project and mentioned that it is working on recommendations for good practice for journal TOC RSS feeds. FUMSI (a new publication from the people at Free Pint), has requested an article from the project based around these recommendations. Another article on RSS and ticTOCs will appear in the next issue of Multimedia Information & Technology, and Joe Hilton, the ticTOCs Manager, has written an article for the next issue of Sconul Focus.
On the other hand, such press coverage often results in people contacting the project, and this can sort of distract from the practical work in hand.
